OUR COTTAGES

The perfect location to explore this beautiful corner of south-west Scotland

Located in peaceful countryside and surrounded by the rolling Galloway Hills, these two adjoining byre conversions provide an ideal base for exploring the peaceful Machars Peninsula with its rugged coastline and sandy beaches. The cottages are beautifully converted and furnished, accessed by a well-maintained farm road and they provide an ideal place to relax and unwind.
The owners run an organic dairy farm two miles away and produce a range of cheeses – organic cow's cheese from the farm’s herd of dairy cows as well as sheep and goat's milk cheeses. These are available from the farm shop –  read more.  East Culkae Farm and Peace and Quiet cottages are part of this enterprise, providing cropping land and grazing for sheep and cattle.
The area is home to some of the most beautiful and exotic gardens anywhere in Britain, due mainly to a temperate climate which benefits from the Gulf Stream and it is also a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers. With the beautiful Galloway Forest Park and world-renowned 7Stanes Mountain Biking Trails also close by, this is a popular area for walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Sea, river and loch fishing opportunities abound in the area with sailing, water sports and golf adding to the long list of activities locally. Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town and historic Whithorn are nearby, as is Newton Stewart with its range of shops, pubs, eateries, cinema and swimming pool. There are also tennis courts and a range of golf courses close by.
